The last few months have been kind of a blur!
We've had a lot of fun, and have been very busy.
I did want to write about Preslee turning ONE though!

At one year old Preslee ...

• is generally a very go with the flow type of baby.
• naps twice a day.
• says mama, dada, baba, and oh wow!
• understands very much of what you say to her.
• still wears size 2 diapers.
• weighs about 19 lbs.
• loves to giggle, and clap (especially when she does something good)
• has been standing for a couple of months,
but just smiles at me when I try to make her walk.
• has exceptional balance (especially for a kid that won't walk!)
• crawls like a maniac, and scales furniture.
• motors up the stairs, she's gone in a instant.
• is VERY curious. Don't leave a bathroom door open, or the pantry, or a pen in your bag.
• loves loves loves to give kisses.
• is terrified of most people, but when she's comfortable she's very comfortable.
• is very loud when she's comfortable. She loves to talk.
• can get ticked off quite quickly, and you'll know it.
• loves Brookey so much. It's fun to watch them play.
• really wants to do whatever Brooke is doing at all times, even if she physically can't.

I love to plan birthday parties for my kids. My mom always went all out for me as a kid, and I have some great memories. I love researching ideas, and planning the food, and making the food. I love to come up with a great theme, and put my graphic design diploma to use. Mostly I just love to see my kids happy, and having fun.

For Preslee's party this year I went with the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
I love Eric Carle's books and read them to my kids. The pictures are so bright and fun, it's a great children's book!

It was a great party theme because the food was a no brainer.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar eats through all sorts of things.
apples, pears, oranges, watermelon, strawberries, plums ...
salami, sausage, cheese, pickles ...
chocolate cake, cupcakes, cherry pie, ice cream, and lollipops ...
He actually eats quite a well rounded meal!

We had such a beautiful day for the party. I was stressing big time because I had planned it to be outdoors (it's at the end of April - it's not THAT unrealistic!) but the weekend before it had snowed! We were lucky to have warm temperatures. We had a bean bag toss game, and mostly just hung around and socialized with Preslee's guests.
Preslee loved eating her smash cake and really really loved opening her presents.
Brooke really liked opening Preslee's presents to!

Sorry for the picture overload. I just couldn't decide.
I still can't believe that she's already one. I have no idea where the last year went.
It really does feel like i've just welcomed her into this word. I see all that her little self has accomplished in just one year and couldn't be more proud to be her Mama!
Happy Birthday Preslee!

Me...

In December, a good friend from high school asked me if I wanted to play on her recreational basketball team. It was something that I really had to think about!
I've been playing basketball since I was like 10 or 11, and played all through junior high school and on my high school teams.

However, I pretty much hadn't picked up a ball in 5 years.
5 YEARS!
I couldn't believe it when I counted!
I guess life just got busy.

I have been saying to Kale for a few years that I would like to start playing organized basketball again but we were living in Cranbrook, and there wasn't anything like that there.

Despite the fact that I wanted to play, I almost said no because of my insecurities.
I'm glad I said yes.
It's been so FUN!

I play on a co-ed team, and it's a lot different playing with men.
There tall, and they play differently.
Our guys are pretty good though, they treat the girls pretty equally.

We're playing in the 1st/2nd place game next week.
We're playing a tough team, and we've lost to them before.
Although, we lost to the team we beat tonight to so who knows!

Back in December I never thought I would have this much fun!

You want to know the best part?
I feel like ME.
I get to be independent.
I get to be active.
I go, and I don't have to worry about children or household things.
I don't have to juggle 5 different things at once.
I don't have to worry about my life as wife, and mom.
I just get to be me :)

Please, please don't get me wrong.
I love ME as wife, and momma of 2...
...but it's nice to remember who I was before I was those things.

Birthday cake in a cookie ... YES PLEASE!
It's my mission this week to find these babies.
I've already struck out in 2 stores, so I may have to stock up once I find them.
Wish me luck :)

This is my favourite picture.
It perfectly explains my kids right now.
Preslee is crawling, and growing, and into EVERYTHING.
Brookey isn't loving it, but I think it's pretty funny.

This picture was taken at Superstore.
It was the first time the two had sat in the cart together.
It was an experience, that's for sure!

I love these two girls,
and I love watching them interact.

Preslee adores her big sister,
and wants to be where Brooke is all the time.

While Brooke doesn't always love this,
there are times where she is very patient with Pres.

Knowing the relationships that sisters can have (eventually)
it makes me smile :)

3 years old!

So after I wrote Preslee's 9 month post I realized that I never did one for Brooke who turned 3 years old at the beginning of January.
3 years!

Brookey & Grandma at her 3rd birthday party.

Brooke & Auntie Kels, they are pretty much BFF's

At 3 years old, Brooke:

• weighs 30 lbs, and is fairly tall for her age.

• talks like she's 25.

• has so much energy that I would like even half of it.

• loves the movie Aladdin, and The Return of Jafar.

• is very loving.

• always says thank you, but usually forgets please.

• is recently potty trained.

• has a mind of her own, and an attitude to match.

• loves her daddy more then anyone in the world :)

• loves vegetables, peanut butter sandwiches, cheesestrings, and pancakes.

• loves to play princess, and build things with Kale.

• is a social butterfly, and is fiercely independent.

• is just as accident prone as Kale is, and always has scratches and bruises.

• loves to be outside, no matter the weather.

• still naps once a day, probably because she's SO active.

• loves to swim!

• loves to read books, and sing songs.

Brooklyn is a fun little girl! She's always doing something, and hardly ever sits still. She loves to give cuddles, and loves to EVERYONE she meets :) In the last year she has developed an attitude, and pairing that with her need for independence she's given me a run for my money! I love this little girl, she makes our lives so much fun!

9 Months old

Preslee turned 9 months old yesterday.
I don't know how this happened SO fast! I feel as though she was just born.

Some facts about Pres at 9 months are:

• She is SO happy.

• She has 5 teeth.

• Not a lot scares her. I think it's because she has Brooke as a sister, she just giggles.

• She nursed for 7.5 months but now LOVES her bottle.

• She will only drink out of a sippy if it has water in it and even then it's a challenge.

• She loves to sit up, and is so close to crawling.

• She gets the biggest smile on her face whenever Brooke gets into trouble.

• She LOVES food! She will eat anything but mostly loves to feed herself finger foods.

• She sleeps 12 hours at night at the very least.

• She naps twice a day, although sometimes it's just in the car
while I run Brooke to her various activities.

• She loves the bath, and just recently started sitting up in it.

• She has just recently "found her voice" and is now incredibly loud if she's comfortable in her environment.

• If she isn't comfortable, she is very quiet and observes. She takes it all in.

Preslee has been a dream baby, right from the beginning. She's very easygoing, and very loving. She thinks her big sister is the best thing in the world, and loves to be hugged and kissed by her. I just love this little girl, she makes life so happy.

I can't wait to see what the next few months bring!

Improve.

Okay. I know it's been 8 months.

It's not that I have nothing to talk about, but having 2 little ones keeps me quite busy!

I really want to try harder.

I want to have a record somewhere of our lives. I want to remember little and big events, and cute things my kids have said. I want to remember the good, and the not as good.

Brooke is 3. To some of you 3 years may not seem like a lot, but those years have flown by and it makes me sad. I love to watch them grow, and discover new things (except for tantrums, I hope those are undiscovered soon) BUT at the same time I just want time to slow down.

This is the year I'm going to do better.

A girlfriend of mine picks a word every year, and this year that word is improve.

I think that's going to be my word for the year also because lets face it, I have a long way to go.

I'm going to improve myself, hopefully in many areas.

What YOUR word for the year?
