Day 3

Day 3 - Your Siblings & Parents

This is my family :) This is also the best, and most recent picture I could find of all of us together. It was taken in Mazatlan, Mexico last May. We've been all together twice since then but I have no clue why there are no pictures of us all.
From left to right we have Kale (my husband), Nate (Kel's husband), Kelsey (My sister), Gerri (or Jonzie ... My mama), Me, Darcy (or Dupe ... My dad), and Brookey.
I love my family! My sister and I are 2.5 years apart and we have the best time together. We have great parents, and all mesh together really well. We always have a great time when we're all together. We love to laugh, love to game, love to eat, and just generally love to be in the same place at the same time :D

I tried to upload a picture of Kale's family - or as many as we have in 1 picture ... but it crashed my computer. So there is no picture. I'm also not going to name everyone because there is like 40 of us! Kale is the youngest of 9. He has 3 brothers, and 5 sisters and we have a whole LOT of nieces and nephews. Everyone lives all over North America so we don't all get together very often, but it happens every once in a while! I love seeing Brookey with all of her cousins. She has so much fun :)

Day 2

Day 2 - Something the Stresses you out

This one is easy! Lately, I've had to deal with something new in my life. Temper tantrums ... in public. I can deal with at home tantrums, in private, where everyone and their dog are not judging me for how i'm handling my child. In public though I get really flustered! Brookey was a very easy baby. She was pretty quiet, and even when she started to grow a little bit and become more independent she would often just look around or be easily swayed with a toy or some food. Well, then my easy baby became a very very high energy, very independent, very stubborn 2 year old. She's still a good girl, and behaves a lot of the time but when she doesn't she is LOUD. She speaks very well, and so everyone knows what's going on with her ... especially when she's upset. I've resorted to time outs for the most part, but where do you stick her in time out in a grocery store? Kale put her in a time out in the lawyers office last week (I'm aware a lawyer's office is NOT a place for a child but when you have no one to leave her with what do you do?) and she did sit there ... and loudly sobbed. It wasn't much better then the tantrum. I'm sure the lawyer thought we were insane...
This won't last forever ... right?

Day 1

Day 1 - Self portrait picture, and 15 interesting facts

This picture of me was taken in on my 24th birthday. I love this picture!
I can almost always find something that I don't like about myself in any given photograph ...
but this one is great!

15 Interesting Facts about ME!

1• I love cake! Now, lately I have been craving all forms of cake. However, this is not just a pregnancy thing. Cake is easily my dessert of choice at all times!

2• I have a huge fear of those I love dying prematurely. I lost a really good friend when I was 21, and I know how real death is. I think it drives my husband crazy because along with that fear comes me being paranoid of anything remotely dangerous that he might want to do. I always think of worst case scenario.

3• I am insanely shy and private. Growing up, and even now most people take me for just being a snob. I'm more afraid to talk to you, then you are to talk to me! Some people find this hard to believe because give me 1 or 2 people that I know well in a group and I'm quite outgoing BUT stick me in a group with unknowns and I'm really awkward. It takes a long time for me to feel comfortable with any given person. I know this has hindered friendships or possible friendships, and for that reason I'm really trying to change!

4• I adore my sister :) She means so much to me, and it sucks to live so far away from each other. We always have so much fun together, and I love that we married men that get along with each other so well! It makes for some really awesome times together. We always have to have a plan of when we will see each other again at the end of every visit or a meltdown could follow ;)

5• I love to read. I would rather read a book then watch a movie. The library is one of my favorite places.

6• I love to cook. This may come as a surprise to some people because this has only happened in the last few years. When I got married, I could burn a frozen chicken pot pie ... in fact I did ;) After I had Brooklyn I went on Weight Watchers to lose my baby weight and it inspired me to start cooking with whole ingredients. If I can make it myself, I usually prefer to do it that way. I've been told by a few people close to me that I'm a good cook and that makes me feel good!

7• I'm afraid of the dark, yet I have to have complete dark to sleep. Usually it's not a problem because Kale is there but the last 9 months (I can't believe it's been that long) we've been living apart on weekdays so I go to bed alone. This results in either me turning on my bedside lamp and then turning off my light, getting into bed and then turning off my lamp before I go to sleep OR turning off my light, and making a mad dash to my bed before my imagination runs away with me.

8• I hate to exercise BUT I find it to be an essential part of my life. It must be done in front of a tv ... and if I'm doing a workout DVD then once I have the routine down I have a show or movie playing on my laptop. I will not workout without a distraction.

9• I find that one of the hardest parts of parenting is keeping a straight face. Truth be told, some of the "bad" things that Brookey does are REALLY funny.

10• I sometimes get an itch to use the "school smarts" side of my brain. Don't get me wrong, I love being a SAHM. Though every now and then I use my brain to do my dad's books or design something for my husband and I love how I feel after.

11• Sometimes Kale & I still can't believe we married each other. In order to really truly understand why, you'd have to know each of us when we were teenagers. We were (and probably still are) polar opposites but it works for us. He makes my life a little more exciting, and I tone his down a couple notches :) It's a good balance.

12• I hate the cold. I obviously live in the wrong country. I need my sun to be able to function. The more the winter goes on, the lazier and more down I feel. Every year. It's been like that for as long as I can remember, and I can't seem to help it.

13• I don't understand why McDonalds keeps bringing back the McRib. It was nasty the first time I tried it, and I'm pretty sure it's nasty now.

14• I had the best group of LDS friends my last few months of my senior year in high school. It was at a time where my life could go either way. The people I grew up with starting heading out to the bar and I knew I didn't fit in there. These friends gave me a place to fit in. We did some of the most ridiculous things, and even though I don't keep in touch with many of them anymore they mean a lot to me.

15• I enjoy a good sandwich. Calgary needs better sandwich shops. We need a Zupa's, or a Jimmy Johns, or something comparable.

There's 15 ... although some may not really be THAT intersting! I started to lose hope around 10 but got it done :)

My cousin Mindy is doing this 15 Day Challenge. Even though she's only on day 4, I have enjoyed reading it and thought it would be a fun thing to try. I don't believe I have ever blogged for 2 days straight before ... let alone 15! I'm starting to get anxious to move in a few weeks so I thought this would be a fun thing to do to help me pass the time!

Wish me luck :)

Kinda Healthy?

Okay blog friends ....

... I have a problem.

I crave cake. and cookies. and muffins ... and really any kind of baked goods.
Now, you might think why is that a problem. Sounds delicious. Your pregnant, go for it. Normally I would agree HOWEVER once I start, I won't stop. :) I gained a good amount of weight with my last baby, which meant that I had a good amount to lose (even after the 9 lbs of baby came out). So, this pregnancy I've done well. I haven't been sick, so I've been exercising. I've craved things here and there but one of my cravings has been fruit so it balanced it all out until now. In my fridge right now is chocolate pudding that I just made for Brookey & I. I figured it beat the only other option I had which was to bake a whole cake ... and then eat a whole cake ;)
So, I ask.
Anybody out there have a recipe for a baked good that has decent stats ... guilt free ... but delicious! OR a recipe that has stats that are through the roof, but doesn't make much. I'd take either. Maybe something cakey? Haha, I'm desperate. :)
Help a preggo out!

We've had a busy busy winter season, and are looking forward to an even busier spring!
We still have a loose move in date of April 1st, and our house is coming along really nicely. Kale has put hours and hours and hours of work into the plumbing and heating and we appreciate it!

This picture was taken in late January,so it's progressed a little further since then!

In early December we decided that since our medical ultrasound couldn't tell us the gender of the baby that we would go to Calgary and have a 3D one done. It was such a cool experience. The tech said without a doubt, baby is a GIRL! We we're so overjoyed. We would have been overjoyed had baby been a boy to (especially since I was convinced that baby was a boy) but growing up with a little sister myself I know how much fun it is to have a sister! Brookey will make a great big sister, and a great teacher to new baby girl!

21 weeks

So, we went for our ultrasound at 21 weeks and she was curled up into my placenta and had her arms over her face. We could not get her to move at all, so they suggested we come back in 6 weeks for another one (a free one!). So 6 weeks later we came back and it was so fun to see how she had changed. She has got some chubb now, but her habits are very much the same. Despite out best efforts she still had her hands in front of her face, and she threw a leg up in there to :) Usually she is SO active, so I couldn't believe it when she decided it was sleepy time and didn't want to be disturbed. Her little yawns were just the cutest. Brookey got to come to this ultrasound to, and loved looking at new baby sister!

28 weeks

I'm now 30 weeks, and am feeling really good! I can't believe there are only 10 weeks left. I'm excited to meet this little girly :)
